I have a relationship with shoes that spans 35 years. My grandmother would bring home bags of clothes from this little old lady she worked for that my cousins and I would play dress up. Picture 7 and 8 year olds wearing tiny patent leather stiletto pumps. Disturbing image I admit, but the monster was created.
The same aforementioned grandmother purchased my first pair of real high heels. I still can picture them. They were tan leather sandals (yes, I was fashion forward at 13 and knew nude was hot). Unfortunately these were the days of pantyhose and my feet would slide forward thus causing the dreaded “toe-overhang”.
I learned how to walk while pulling my toes back. Not for the faint-hearted.
This blog is an attempt to invite others into the wonderful world that is my relationship with shoes. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not the chick who will spend $500.00 dollars on a pair of shoes. Hell, my car payment isn’t that much. But I can tell you where to get a good bargain, where to get a pair in that impossible to find color that won’t break your bank or you Achilles’.
Welcome to my world.
An Ode to My Shoes
Brown, black, red, purple even a plaid pair in pink.
My wardrobe starts with shoes, they're the pen if my clothes the ink.
My heart skips a beat at a sign that shouts sale,
Emails make me happy, as do coupons from the mail.
When I see that little box on my doorstep.
I’m over the moon and my step has added pep.
So to my over 300 pair, I love you all.
I’ll write more, after I’m back from the mall.
